Stress-Relief Product Buyer’s Guide (updated July 2024)

Designs for Health NEUROCALM Review

Designs for Health NEUROCALM is a stress-relief supplement that looks good at first glance. The issue is that upon further examination, there seems to be a very below average amount of necessary ingredients for a standard stress-relief product. There is also no customer service guarantee or customer reviews, which always help with getting a feel for the product’s usefulness to actual customers.

On the other hand, there are some fairly good ingredients that we would consider to be formulaically sound for a satisfactory stress relief product. The use of a patented GABA ingredient, as well as 5-HTP and taurine. It is also vegetarian-friendly, gluten free, and does not incorporate GMO’s.

Is Designs for Health NEUROCALM Effective?

This product seems like it should be generally effective as a mild, soothing supplement, although it probably is not very optimal for higher frequencies of stress. NEUROCALM contains ingredients that are generally required in stress-relief formulas, but the quantities of each individual component do not lead us to believe that it is potent enough to truly be an effective, fully-optimized supplement for stress.

This supplement contains 2 types of B vitamins, as opposed to a blend of multiple B vitamins in order to address multiple stress-related issues. There is magnesium, which is also a required ingredient, but it is not in a highly bioavailable form and therefore not as potent as it could be. The use of chamomile and l-theanine adaptogens is also a positive point for this product, but again, there are no other adaptogens in the formula which would raise the potency level to the preferred amount for an effective stress-relief supplement. The 5-HTP and GABA patented ingredients are great additions to the formula, as they can raise serotonin levels and produce a soothing effect on the nervous system.

So is this product effective? Well, we can safely assume that it should be, at least partially. The issue is that it does not seem to be optimized to the point that it can be relied on to address the full spectrum of issues related to stress, properly soothe them, and contribute to a relaxed state for the consumer. The use of higher amounts of each required component of a good stress-relief product would make this product much more effective, and recommendable.

Is Designs for Health NEUROCALM Safe?

There is only one ingredient that looks like it could possibly pose a mild threat to the health of consumers, which is the inactive silicon dioxide ingredient. In small doses, it is not supposed to be harmful to people who consume it. However, there are studies linking it with various different adverse side effects, including inflammation, lung complications, and other diseases. It is an FDA approved anti-caking agent, as long as it is used in small doses. We’d still prefer a product that uses all-natural ingredients, without the possibility, however slight, of adverse effects.

Summary

Although this product is included in our top picks list, there are still a number of issues that we felt we needed to address in order to give our readers a clear perspective of the do’s and don’ts of stress relief supplements. It is still a good product when standing on it’s own, but it’s not one that would come very highly recommended when compared to the others on this list. We also don’t like the fact that there is no customer satisfaction guarantee, as we believe that any company who believes in the effectiveness of their product will back up that confidence with some sort of guarantee, even if it ‘s just a good return policy. Either way, this was an okay product although it needs some polishing in terms of the elements of the formula, and backing up their claims of effectiveness.
